Life in the Cheese Drawer

today nate and i went to subway for their 2 footlongs for $8.99 deal (which, when you think about it, is cheaper than making supper at home, unless you eat spaghetti or cereal).
we walk into the subway, and nate is wearing his “one by one the penguins steal my sanity” shirt. the girl behind the counter mentions his shirt, then continues to talk to him about if he plays mmorpg’s and which one, and how hers is better, and blah blah blah.
i’m watching the whole thing, and i’m like, this girl is hitting on my hubby! what a slore!

life has been fairly monotonous. i am unpacking, slowly but surely. the new place is entirely too small for the amount of stuff that nate and i have accumulated through the years. i will take pics soon and post them. when i’m done unpacking 🙂
i went to the cities a couple days ago and visited megan, ate cheese fries, went to ikea and bought some baskets for my new place, and went to the MOA, where i bought… *gasp*…nothing. omg! BUT i went to DSW and drooled over the shoes. i tried a lot on. surprising, they have a lot of size 11s in that store! i am impressed. we also went to sephora, where we found $1000 anti-aging crap. and then the awesomest discovery ever, a store with mega-expensive vibrating chairs. omg! i was sitting in one that had a built-in foot massager!!! it was awesome!!
megan’s new place is awesome. i think it’s bigger than my place, and hers is a one-bedroom! plus it has a sunken living room!
i have been organizing my stuff for the upcoming craft fair. i am hesitant to buy a LOT of frames, but i am also hesitant to buy not enough. i’m thinking 4 sizes, 20 frames each, two each of 10 prints. with the exception of the white flower – i’m making 4 prints in each size of that one because it has gotten rave reviews from everyone who’s seen it.
i applied for another GA!! the second one is much nicer and more related to my field. i hope i get a call! i don’t know why he wouldn’t call me with all my experience in everything he needs. he has to call me!
anyway, all has been decent. i got basic cable from the dumb cable company. now i can at least watch america’s next top model, despite the lack of food network and cartoon network and travel channel. 🙁 but i signed up for netflix, so that should calm some lack of entertainment anxiety i’m having.
i’m out.

well, i have no tv yet. i don’t know what to do. the building owners are putting new siding on the apts. this summer and are taking down all the directtv dishes and not letting them be put back up, so no directtv. the cable in town sucks. the only channels i would even be happy getting are comedy central and TBS. no cartoon network! no food channel!
ugh!
and i would hook up my tv to the antenna on top of the building, but there is no coax outlet in the living room. there are THREE in the far bedroom, however. tell me how that got justified.
anyway, i have been slowly getting unpacked and now it’s down to a few things here and there, and the computer room.
and GOOD NEWS!!! my aunt kathy and i got accepted to the lemonade fair!!! that’ll be so cool! we’re going to sell our stuff in a booth! everyone has to come visit us! so much to do to get that ready though. oh my.
and i have to call the alterations people for my bridesmaid dress for liz’s wedding. i must make a note.
ok, that’s all for now. i’m applying for a graduate assistantship for the fall, so cross your fingers for that!

i have no tolerance for stupid drivers, two of which i encountered today.
a) driving on 23 to new london, i am stuck behind a dude for about 10 miles going about 56, which is about 9 miles under the average speed for normal drivers on this road. i come to a stretch of road where i can pass this dude, and do so. i get around him, and suddenly i see him in my rearview mirror speeding up pretty quick on my rear. ??? then he passes me and proceeds to go about 66 for the remainder of his stay on the highway.
b) on division street, there are these two kids in VWs who decide to whip around me, then get next to each other in the 2-lane, and go about 15 mph less than they were. then as soon as get close to them and have to slow down, they speed up. so i decide to turn so i can avoid these morons. so i get into the turning lane, and as soon as mr vw sees this, he whips in in front of me. so i decide, no! i’m not going to deal with this, so i get out of the turning lane, and so does mr. vw. then i get back in the turning lane. and he flips me off.
nice.
remedial driving lessons for all. i hate stupid drivers!

i’m becoming more and more like my parental units. here i am, friday night, st. paddy’s day no less, and i’m watching almanac on channel 2.

good news – my car insurance covers the $700 rental ickiness. WHEW that is a load off, you have no idea.
megan came through st cloud today and we ate cheese fries, went to the mall (where i bought some conditioner), BN (where i bought Post Secret) and bed bath and beyond, where i bought nothing.
this morning i got my hair cut. don’t worry, nothing too drastic because of liz’s wedding. if i chopped it all off before then she might have an attack. just got about an inch trimmed off and some layers put in.
packing is going well. i have all my books packed, all the dvds packed, gotta do cds and clean out the hall closet next. i’m letting nate pack the computer crap, haha.
WOW american idol has become a huge crapfest. last time i watched was first season, and this episode is just a bunch of materialistic commercialism. i do like watching america’s next top model though 🙂 yay, it was on tonight.

preface: i like shoes. i like shopping for them, i like trying them on, i would buy lots of shoes (especially heels) if a) i had more reason to wear different shoes than my tennis shoes and work shoes (when i worked) and b) i weren’t so dang tall. as if i need three more inches of height – i’m already 5’9″!
DSW has a shoe ad out, and it’s shot so that all you see are a bunch of women walking around in high heels (basically all you see is from the knees down).
i nearly died! it made me want to go shoe shopping. i don’t know why i’m so enamored by shoes!
ps- Liz i need to borrow some nice shoes (maybe the ones i gave you) for easter!
