Devil's Syrup

A lot of my blog tells of how I avoid corn syrup,
affectionately known as devil’s syrup.

It started 3 years ago when I watched “King Corn” and learned more about the corn industry than I wanted to know. I realized that choosing to not buy products that contained corn syrup or any kind was one way I could keep my dollars from entering and supporting that industry.

Since then, I’ve learned a lot more about different aspects of the food industry in the US. There is so much more I could be doing, and some things that I will do in the future that I don’t have the life circumstance at the moment to make happen. Slowly I am turning my food life around to be less processed, more whole foods, more organic (but not necessary), and more local (this one is huge).

Because I was avoiding corn syrup for so long and for reasons not as mainstream as others’ reasons, my sister suggested I write a book about it! I have been keeping a blog since 2004, and have loved writing forever, so it was a logical next step. It’s a work in progress, but it will make an appearance sometime soon!
